As the winter months are upon us you might be noticing skin changes that concern you. Dull looking skin, dark circles, puffy eyes and sagging jowls to name a few. The adverse effects of winter, poor diet and increased stress and travel creates a havoc on the skin and you need to assist the skin to get back in shape naturally. That does not mean spending money on celebrity endorsed lotions and potion. You need a good, botanically based nutrient-rich product which can be purchased at your local spa. Drug store products are not as effective as the professional brands in part because they have fillers and chemicals that you don’t need on the face. Spa products are tested and proven to work effectively.
Typically a professional skin care when used twice a day should show a dramatic result in 2 weeks, that is how long our body takes to heal naturally. So if your product does not improve your skin within 14 days, chances are it is going to make a very small impact on your skin. I recommend Firming Peptide Serum and Triple Exfoliating Cleanser from Speranzi which you can find it on their website Here
The are many factors influencing skin again, sun overexposure, stress, lack of sleep, lack of exercise and poor diet among many other reasons. Here is what you can do to help your skin without going under the knife or exposing your body to painful injection.
First thing you need to understand is that before you look healthy and glowing your body needs to be healthy and strong. How do you quickly get there? Start from gratitude. Today most people are running on auto pilot, you don’t even know how you get from one place to another and go through the day just making things happen without putting an ounce of though into it. Begin focusing on everything you do and observe the outcome. Praise yourself for job well done and notice the sun shine, the birds singing in the morning and maybe have a deep conversations with your spouse. We forget about ourselves in the whirlpool of responsibilities. Understanding that there is more to life than that. You can enjoy life better when you start paying attention. If you like this idea and want to learn more about how to do it get this book Making Life Easy by Dr. Christiane Northrup.
Second become more positive. As Dr. Joe Dispenza describe the energy of emotions simply by this statement Negative Emotions Attract More Negative and Positive Emotions Attract More of Positive. That simple. Start training your brain to repeat affirmations such as: I am healthy, I am peaceful, I am happy. Even if you don’t believe those at the moment that is ok. Your subconscious trained itself to the negative statements and it will take time to reprogram your brain. But once you do, life will improve for you so will the look of your skin. Repeat the affirmations as often as you can even if you doubt the result. Since you are the only one in control of changing your thought and your life, then it is worth to do it.
Third, have a healthy relationship with yourself. Look in the mirror and say to yourself that you Love Yourself. Once you do you will be able to do more to help your body and your skin to get back into shape. It might mean you need to find a skin care expert such as facialist who works on holistic approach to beauty. If you are overly stressed you might need a massage, if you don’t sleep right you might need to listen to calming music before bed time instead of watching news. Do whatever it takes to put you back in balance and join social groups that may help you to feel included, loved and respected for who you are not what you look like.
As you notice I focus on your mind and your body first before advising you to look at your skin. You can’t have one without the other. And now let’s talk about how to keep your skin looking healthy.
First, it is extremely important that you cleanse and exfoliate your skin daily, in fact twice a day. As we age our skin does not exfoliate as quickly as it did in our youth. As soon as you turn 35 everything slows down and you need to spend more time babying your skin if you want it to look good. The cleanser must be mild but effective, if you feel your skin is dry and patchy you need a cream cleanser if it is normal and the pores are enlarged you might need a cleanser that contains fruit acids AHA, or glycolic or lactic acid. This products works perfectly for oily skin as well. One word of caution about the rotating brushes that are sold in every department store: Don’t overuse them as it will tear your skin producing redness and dryness. Don’t use it daily if that occurs. My recommendation is use it once a week or see a skin care expert or esthetician to advise you based on your skin type.
Second, you need to use a serum. Serum is a concentrated vitamin boost for your skin. Serums absorb deeper into the skin producing desirable effect quickly. Not all serums are effective but it is worth investigating it. See Consumer Reports for objective reviews of products. Earlier in the article I’ve mentioned Firming Peptide Serum that our clients love and recommend to others. Serum is applied on a damp skin right after cleansing/toning it.
Third, and equally important is a moisturizer. Don’t be confused by the marketing messages that advertise a moisturizer to get rid of wrinkles or lift the skin. It is impossible as moisturizer does not absorb into the layer of the skin responsible for rebuilding it. This is a role of the serum. So don’t spend hundreds of dollars on a cream promising this result. The role of a moisturizer is to shield the skin from loss of moisture and improve the topical structure of skin which can result in more radiant look.
Eye creams are essential for preventing dry, crepey look of the skin. Use it under the eye as well as on the lips. The skin is the same in both areas.
Don’t forget to use all of the daily skin care products on your neck to avoid the crepey skin. Even though the double chin or ‘turkey neck’ seems to be difficult to get rid of holistically but it is possible.
